About True Vitamin A (Retinol)
AzureWell Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Liver Oil is an excellent source of vitamin A. Retinol (vitamin A) in Alaskan Cod Liver Oil is bioavailable in a form the body can easily use. Many supplements use beta-carotene as a vitamin A ingredient, but true vitamin A (retinol, from animal sources) has its own advantages. For one thing, the body must first convert the beta carotene to retinol (vitamin A) before the body can use it, and not everyone is able to make that conversion. Vitamin A bolsters the immune system and promotes the health of vital organs such as the heart and liver.* It also benefits the cardiovascular system, skin, bones, eyes, and nervous system.*
Doctor Weston A. Price’s research demonstrated that “generous amounts of vitamin A ensure healthy reproduction and offspring with attractive wide faces, plenty of room for the teeth and strong sturdy bodies.” (Nourishing Traditions, by Sally Fallon Morrell, pg. 544)
Dr. Price also recommends you take “cod liver oil with a meal rather than before or after, as it aids in the utilization of the minerals in the food.” (Ibid. pg. 391)
About DHA and Omega-3 in Cod Liver Oil
AzureWell Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Liver Oil is especially rich in DHA, one of the essential omega-3 fatty acids. Pregnant and nursing mothers (as well as those with growing children) will be interested to know that DHA is essential to the development of the brain and nervous system.*
About DPA in Cod Liver Oil
In addition to EPA and DHA, AzureWell Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Liver Oil also contains naturally occurring DPA (docosapentaenoic acid). DPA is an omega-3 fatty acid often missing in most conventional fish oil supplements. While EPA and DHA have received much of the spotlight historically, new research is demonstrating that DPA also plays a vital role in supporting optimal health.* DPA may complement and enhance the benefits of other Omega 3 fats.*
About Pro-Resolving Mediators (PRMs)
Often missing in most conventional fish oil products due to harsh processing methods, AzureWell Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Liver Oil is gently processed to maintain a broad array of pro-resolving mediators (PRMs), such as 14-HDHA, 17-HDHA, and 18-HEPE. PRMs are naturally occurring compounds that help support a healthy, balanced inflammatory response.* Research demonstrates that PRMs support the body’s natural cleanup and recovery processes, promote healthy tissue repair, and support joint comfort and mobility.*
About Triglyceride (TG) form of Omega-3 fats
AzureWell Wild Caught Alaskan Cod Liver Oil provides omega-3 fatty acids in the natural Triglyceride (TG) form, which is the natural state of omega-3 fats found in fish. Research evidence demonstrates that the TG form is better absorbed than the semi-synthetic Ethyl Ester (EE) form of omega-3s provided in many fish oil products.* The TG form is also more stable than EE and less prone to oxidation (rancidity).
