Our AzureWell Practitioner's Favorite Supplements Boost your health with my go-to supplements from AzureWell, Trace Replace Ionic Minerals and Fulvic/Humic Blend Energy Earth ! Both will aid in supporting your body's overall health and vitality and take a step towards a healthier you! Here’s how I like to use them in my practice. My favorite AzureWell products are Trace Replace Ionic Minerals and Fulvic/Humic Blend Energy Earth. Both can simply be added to your water each day for optimized use, making this easy and convenient. I can personally tell when I’ve not added mine for the day, as I am more sluggish and tired. In Practice : A large percentage of my clientele test for these two essentials in their Q4 scans, likely due to the climate of the TriState area (MD, WV, VA) affecting our water. Even if clients do not have a scan done, these are the first two AzureWell products I recommend due to the overall benefits. They can be conveniently added to my other first appointment recommendation, which is an increase in water consumption. Health Benefits : Trace Replace Ionic Minerals brings needed minerals of magnesium, sulfur, boron, and lithium that the filtered water often filters out. I usually recommend 1 dropper in 32-40oz of water along with 1/32 tsp of Fulvic/Humic Blend Energy Earth (unless they test otherwise on their Q4 scan). The Energy Earth provides a wide range of essential nutrients and trace elements that offer amazing health benefits of digestive health, immune function, absorption, detox, and fighting free radicals. If the look bothers you (it looks like dirt 😅) you can always add it to your face mask or foot soaks for similar benefit. Helpful Tips ! I personally add both Trace Replace Ionic Minerals and Fulvic/Humic Blend Energy Earth to my first 40oz bottle of water each morning and I can’t even taste a difference. I do use a water bottle that is not see-through so that helps and if I do see it, I just remember this is good “dirt water” 😂. - “Red Juice” that’s Healthy for Kids
Hydrating Juice My Whole Family Loves There is something magical about the way little children see the world. I especially love those unfiltered words and sayings that start as a mispronunciation or a child’s way of describing their experience and end up becoming part of the family lexicon forever. At the risk of embarrassing my kids, I will share with you a few favorites that have stuck at our house. We still call Band-aids “Bood-aids” since they cover boo-boos, something my now adult daughter very logically explained to me when she was a toddler. We still say the moon is playing peek-a-boo when it hides behind clouds. Or how my now adult son called beet juice “red juice” when he was little. Still years later, we ask around the house “does anyone want red juice” when someone is whipping up a batch in the kitchen. Back then, “red juice” was just a healthy, fun, and refreshing drink. Now, as I navigate perimenopause and pay more attention to my hormone health, I know how powerful this simple juice really is for supporting liver health, energy and skin elasticity, especially when I stir in some collagen . This recipe is simple, and like most of my recipes, easily altered depending on what’s in season or what’s in the fridge. It also works in tandem with my supplements to provide additional health benefits to support my health. If you want to learn more about why beets are so good for you, and how to incorporate them into your diet, check out this article on the Azure Life Blog. If you want a nutrient packed and kid-approved smoothie recipe, hop over to the AzureWell Blog . Shown here paired with AzureWell Liver Support Extended , you can’t go wrong with this bright red (delicious) juice! Ingredients: 1 cup watermelon, cubed ½ cup pineapple , chopped 1 small beet , peeled and chopped ½ cup coconut water ½ lime , juiced ⅛ teaspoon pink salt 1 scoop collagen powder (optional) Instructions: Juice the watermelon, pineapple, and beet (or blend and strain). Mix with chilled coconut water, lime juice, sea salt, and collagen. Blend or shake, pour over ice if desired, and enjoy! Notes: Use seasonal fruits! If watermelon is not in season, try cucumber for hydration. You can swap pineapple for mango or orange to keep the tropical vibe and tangy sweetness. Beets are … specific in their taste. If you are serving kids who are not used to them, or find the earthy flavor overpowering, start with ¼ of a small beet and work your way up. Sneak in greens! You can add a handful of spinach to the juicer or even some fresh mint. Both are easy to grow (mint may be too easy to grow, if you know what I mean) and it adds a layer of fun to grab your own produce from the garden. - Unlock Garlic's Full Potential
15 Garlic Home Remedies That Have Stood the Test of Time For thousands of years, healers have relied on garlic as a proven natural remedy for immune support and heart health, yet few people know of its full potential. Today, science confirms what ancient civilizations already knew -- garlic’s power comes from potent sulfur-containing compounds that are activated within seconds after the garlic bulb is crushed. When raw garlic cloves are crushed, chopped, or chewed, the cell walls of the garlic bulb are fractured and activate a whole host of beneficial phytocompounds (alliin, allicin, ajoene, diallyl sulfides, thiosulfinates, S-allyl cysteine, and diallyl disulfide) that play a key role in supporting the body’s natural defenses, promoting microbial balance, and maintaining cardiovascular wellness. Ongoing research continues to support garlic’s profound health benefits, reinforcing its place in both holistic and modern healthcare. Whether eaten fresh as part of the diet, taken as an extract, or used in a supplement, garlic is widely recognized as one of the most effective and time-tested natural solutions for overall health and well-being. 15 Garlic Home Remedies To Transform Your Wellness 1. - Another Look at Cod Liver Oil
It was a story in Dr. Weston A. Price’s book, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration , that ultimately got me really interested in cod liver oil. Until I read about Dr. Price’s experience with school children and cod liver oil, I hadn’t taken it very seriously. Before that, I thought cod liver oil was just a bad-tasting elixir forced on growing children by well-meaning grandmothers! Well, not exactly. One Good Meal with Cod Liver Oil In Chapter 22, “A New Vitamin-Like Activator,” Dr. Price shared about a group of children from poor families during the “industrial depression” who received “one extra good meal a day at midday” at the mission -- children who had rampant dental caries. At home the families were eating a diet that had been responsible for their tooth decay — high in sweets and refined starches like “highly sweetened coffee and white bread, vegetable fat, pancakes made of a white flour and eaten with syrup, and doughnuts fried in vegetable fat.” But, one meal a day, prepared and eaten at school (and strictly monitored for nutritional value), “completely controlled the dental caries of each member of the group.” Even their capacity to learn improved! So, what did that one good meal a day include? According to Dr. Price* it included: 4 oz. of tomato or orange juice with 1 tsp. of equal parts very high-vitamin natural cod liver oil and especially high-vitamin butter oil. 1 pint of a very rich vegetable and meat stew made largely from bone marrow and fine cuts of tender meat (with plenty of very yellow carrots). (Sometimes the meat stew was substituted with fish chowder or organs of animals). Cooked fruit with very little sweetening. Rolls made from freshly-ground whole wheat and spread with high-vitamin butter. 2 glasses of fresh (raw) whole milk There is a lot of goodness in this meal from the 1930s or 40s. Cod liver oil was only one part of the equation. But, nonetheless, it intrigued me and I began studying the true value of cod liver oil. The cod liver oil used in this experiment was likely not the deodorized, oxidized (rancid), highly-processed oil of modern times where vitamins are first stripped out (through the processing), then added back in from such sources as irradiated lanolin. No kidding! I’ve learned a lot since spearheading the launch of our AzureWell line of professional-grade supplements. Together with the help of scientists, researchers, practitioners, and suppliers who have your health in mind, we’re able to bring you a great cod liver oil that maintains the goodness of the natural cod fish. What Makes AzureWell’s Alaskan Cod Liver Oil Remarkable No synthetic vitamins are added back in to “spike” the numbers. The levels of vitamin A and D are entirely natural as they came from the fish. Minimal processing retains the “Triglyceride backbone” — These are a primary form of energy storage in the body and important to the structure of cell membranes. Screened and tested for heavy metals. From the cold Alaskan waters with no evidence of radiation contamination. Tested for oxidation (rancidity). Carefully encapsulated to prevent oxidation. (Go ahead! Bite the capsule open and taste the unflavored oil. It doesn’t taste bad. Perhaps you’ll think it tastes fishy, as minimally processed fish oil should… but not “bad.”) While we plan to offer liquid and flavored options in the future, our base cod liver oil (our starting ingredient) will always be of exceptional quality. For more insights into the goodness of our superior cod liver oil, watch our podcast video with Dr. Alphonzo Monzo on Ceruloplasmin . And, add unflavored AzureWell Alaskan Cod Liver Oil capsules to your diet — as a kind of super food! *References: Nutrition & Physical Degeneration, by Weston A. Our AzureWell Practitioner's Favorite Supplements My favorite AzureWell product is what I call the Whole Food Trio! Wait, what supplement is that, I can not find it on the AzureWell store? Well that is because it is not one product but three I use together all the time. Often, I refer to it as the Whole Food 90 essential nutrients found in the trio of Whole Food Multi-Vitamin , Fulvic/Humic Blend , and the Alaskan Cod Liver Oil found only at AzureWell. Ever since the legendary work of Dr. Joel Wallach , we have understood the importance of the 90 essential nutrients. Dr. Joel D. Wallach DVM ND, is a biomedical research pioneer , who spent more than 50 years observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on health. His innovative perspective is derived from his background in veterinary medicine. In 1982, Dr. Wallach switched his focus to human biology and became a Naturopathic Physician. He couldn’t stand by and watch physicians and mainstream medicine ignore his findings that there were 90 Essential Nutrients a body must have or disease may result . Even today, because our soils are depleted, and we are no longer getting these nutrients from our foods – even if they are organic – supplementation is vital. There are as many as 10 deficiency diseases that can result from each nutrient that is missing for any length of time. This is a total of up to 900 diseases that can be prevented with proper nutrition. Furthermore, the 90 essential nutrients are made up of 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 amino acids, and 2 fatty acids. They are called essential because you need them for life to exist, however your body cannot make them. This means that you must get this 90 essential nutrients from diet. Because the body cannot make or synthesize these nutrients, when any one of them is missing for any length of time, disease develops. Since the foods we eat today are so devoid of these nutritional elements, we must supplement with them every day. Unfortunately, there is one catch, we do not want just any type of supplement or nutrient. Dr Wallach did not spend much time or money at looking at the difference between whole food nutrients and synthetic or isolated nutrients. We want whole food based nutrients. Since 1941 research done by Dr. Agnes Faye Morgan at the University of California found that animals fed synthetic vitamins had toxic reactions or died more quickly of degenerative diseases compared to those fed whole foods. She stated that the enrichment of processed foods with synthetic vitamins may “precipitate conditions worse than the original deficiency.” Since then there has been numerous quietly mentioned studies that prove that synthetic vitamins and nutrients are not the same as what God created in nature, both in their chemical structure and energetically. They simply are not meant to be food for us, otherwise God would have put them in food. In comes AzureWell to provide us with the best of both worlds, the 90 essential nutrients in a whole food form. Health benefits of adding the 90 Essential Whole Food Trio into your regimen could be indescribable. The better question would be, what will not benefit? This is why I highly recommend all my clients to either start with the Trio or work up to that point as maintenance. It is a foundational step in healthcare! I would recommend you try the trio in this way. Take 4 caps of Whole Food Multi-Vitamin with breakfast or lunch. Take about 3 caps of Alaskan Cod Liver Oil daily with meals that involve fats. Lastly, take the Fulvic/Humic Blend daily anywhere from 1/32 tsp up to 1/8 tsp daily. Start slowly as the Fulvic/Humic Blend is really pure, and powerful. You don’t want to detox to fast with those essential minerals. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a try for at least 90 days. Make a health inventory of all your current symptoms, no matter how small or big. Then try the trio for 90 days and redo your health inventory. If you see a difference you have just found a new regimen for life! - Testosterone
The Hidden Door to Your Garden of Vitality Many of us assume that feeling “old” is something we will not face until our 60s or 70s. The truth is, aging doesn't wait until we are older. It starts way earlier than most of us realize. Environmental stress, poor diet, and all of life's unexpected hurdles present an endless task to keeping our body in balance, especially if we don't take the necessary time to support our health to keep it running smoothly. I experienced this firsthand in my early 40s after I had a traumatic back injury and began noticing some unsettling symptoms that were impossible to ignore: low energy, a decline in strength, and a noticeable loss of vitality. The physical and emotional toll of this injury, combined with my age, had caused my testosterone levels to crash, leaving me feeling disconnected from the vibrant, energetic person I used to be. Suddenly, hormonal balance wasn’t just something I was advising others about, it was something I had to confront head-on with my own health. At the young age of 40, I knew pre-andropause was on the horizon, but this trauma had potentially created the perfect storm that fast-tracked a cascade of hormonal shifts, quickly amplifying its effects. This was my wake-up call and my time to act was now, before it was too late. Myth vs Fact Redefining Testosterone From Rage to Radiance Testosterone often gets a bad rap as the temper-triggering, aggression hormone, but research over the past decade has flipped the script. Science now demonstrates that promoting this “raging hormone” can actually be the secret weapon for building one’s calm confidence, more like the “feel-good glow-up” hormone. The Science About Testosterone Is Abundantly Clear Fortunately, since the early 2000s, there has been an explosion of research on testosterone. You can find over 2000 studies on PubMed that show the undeniable connection between testosterone and overall health. Low testosterone is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, muscle loss, chronic inflammation, and this list goes on. Beyond all of these health concerns, low testosterone can rob you of your drive and vitality , leading to feelings of depression, diminished sexual desire, and a loss of that spark that just makes you feel alive. The science here is abundantly clear, low testosterone isn’t just about energy and mood, it’s connected to a whole range of health risks as men age, and this aging starts in our 30s. What Is Free Testosterone? By age 30, testosterone levels start to decline at a rate of about 1% per year. However, only 2% of your total testosterone is in the "Free" bioavailable form that your body can actually use... and this critical Free Testosterone declines even faster, dropping by 2% to 3% every year. Free Testosterone is the active form that your body can use. It’s the Free Testosterone that fuels muscle growth, fat metabolism, bone health, cognitive performance, and much more. Even though total testosterone levels may look fine, about 98% of it is tied up by proteins like SHBG (Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin) or albumin, leaving only about 2% to be available in the Free Testosterone form. Moreover, as we age, our SHBG levels rise thus causing this 2% Free Testosterone to drop even lower, even when total testosterone levels appear to be normal. That’s why focusing on Free Testosterone gives a clearer picture of your hormonal health and helps you address energy, vitality, and overall well-being more effectively. Backed by Science: Clinically Target Free Testosterone with a New Class of Botanicals AzureWell’s Testosterone Support for Men is scientifically formulated with a culmination of botanical compounds featuring an all-natural Fenugreek Seed Extract patented as Testofen™, coupled with an Eurycoma longolia extract patented as LJ100™. Clinical research demonstrates these ingredients may significantly enhance male vitality by promoting healthy testosterone balance specifically targeting Free Testosterone.* Free Testosterone is the active, blood-circulating form of testosterone critical to supporting the health of many physiological functions in the body such as heart health, cognitive performance, muscle strength, mood, and sexual vitality.* This advanced testosterone formula has been clinically studied and has been demonstrated to help alleviate common symptoms associated with male andropause for optimal health and performance.* Andropause is a collection of symptoms experienced by some men as they get older, including fatigue and a decrease in libido. Don’t Wait to Pull the Weeds, Take Action Now Aging is inevitable, but how you age is up to you. You are built for more and you deserve to feel strong, energized and alive. I have been there in your shoes, facing the same struggles with low testosterone and the challenges that come with aging. But I am here to tell you, taking action and reclaiming your energy, strength and passion for life doesn’t have to feel like an impossible journey - there are proven solutions by your side. The science is clear, Free Testosterone is the key to being at your best. Take action now. Do not wait to pull the weeds, as your garden of radiant health and vitality is waiting to flourish. 5 Supporting Strategies for Optimal Testosterone Performance DHEA-Cortisol Ratio for Vitality: DHEA is one of the body’s key hormones which helps to intercoordinate the complex endocrine system promoting estrogen and testosterone balance.* By age 21, the adrenal glands produce abundant levels of DHEA: these levels peak around age 25 to 28. By age 40, DHEA levels are half of what they were at age 21. DHEA levels continue to decline steadily; by age 70, DHEA levels are 10% to 15% of the peak levels. Maintaining DHEA levels in a healthy range reduces the risk of cortisol’s negative effects when the adrenal system is under distress, mitigating cortisol-induced muscle and bone loss, maintaining overall vitality especially during times of stress.* AzureWell’s DHEA from Wild Yam can help promote a balanced ratio of DHEA to Cortisol and optimize testosterone function.* Maintaining a healthy DHEA hormone balance is essential for maintaining hormone balance specific to testosterone, maintaining immune function and softening the catabolic effects of cortisol, helping to preserve muscle mass, bone density, and overall vitality.* Promote Adrenal Energy for Cortisol Control: Healthy Adrenal function is essential to maintaining optimal cortisol levels which is key to managing stress, energy and hormone stability.* AzureWell AdrenaNew Adaptogen and Adrenal Food (Super-charged Vit C) target the body's stress response, helping to regulate cortisol production by promoting balanced adrenal function.* Healthy adrenal function is essential for maintaining appropriate cortisol levels, which are crucial for managing stress, supporting energy levels, and maintaining overall hormonal balance.* By modulating the body's response to stress, AdrenaNew Adaptogen can help prevent excessive cortisol spikes and promote a more stable cortisol rhythm.* Together, AdrenaNew Adaptogen and Adrenal Food (Super-charged Vit C) can promote healthy adrenal function and contribute to maintaining balanced cortisol levels, which are important for overall health and well-being in both men and women.* Supporting Estrogen Metabolism: As men age, estrogen metabolism and balance is vital to maintain healthy SHBG balance and testosterone stability.* AzureWell’s Men’s & Women’s Estrogen Balance plays a pivotal role in promoting healthy estrogen metabolism maintaining the body’s natural balance of estrogen into its beneficial forms to offset the production of harmful estrogen byproducts that can lead to cellular proliferation and hormone imbalance. - Learn the Ancient Wisdom
Of This Superfood There's something magical about starting off my mornings with a warm cup of chyawanprash . I take a modest teaspoon of this dense herbal paste, pour some steaming water over it, and smell the earthy tones. Rich in antioxidants, adaptogens and warming spices, it has a grounding effect on me, calming to the stress of yesterday, while invigorating today with a vibrant sense of focus and calm energy. The Ancient Superfood According to the ancient wisdom of the science of Ayurveda , traditional chyawanprash is considered a superfood that can be prepared as a food or liquid. Chyawanprash is an herbal recipe creating the ultimate wellness jam, described as deeply nourishing the tender, bringing freedom to their health. The best part, chyawanprash is regarded for fostering harmony and balance to all body types, no matter where you are in your health journey - it’s literally good for everyone! Rich in Naturally Occurring Vitamin C Many chyawanprash recipes can often include 50+ herbs and wholefood ingredients making it an easy way to enjoy the health benefits of naturally occurring compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, and tannins. In a base of amalaki (amla, also known as indian Gooseberry, is a primary ingredient in AzureWell’s Wholefood C because it is naturally rich with vitamin C), it is often used during seasonal transitions to bolster resilience. Source Matters When choosing a chyawanprash, source matters. Many suppliers use only a few herbs (not the entire original formula) or settle for lower-quality ingredients, which can reduce its benefits. Known for their exceptional standards, Pure Indian Food’s, Chyawanprash , stays true to the original formula using only organic ingredients without any additional additives or unnatural preservatives such as sodium benzoate. Whether you enjoy it by the spoonful, mixed into warm water, or spread on toast, Chyawanprash can be enjoyed in numerous ways, tailored to align with one's individual needs and preferences. Below are some of the most common ways to enjoy. Chywanprash Made Simple: 1. As A Paste: Take a spoonful of chyawanprash directly from the jar. This is the most straightforward method and works well for those who enjoy its taste. 2. With Water: Mix chyawanprash with warm water for a lighter option. 3. With Milk: Mix chyawanprash with warm milk. Milk serves as a carrier, enhancing the nourishing properties of chyawanprash. 4. Spread on Bread or Crackers : Use it as a spread on bread or crackers for a nourishing snack. 5. In Smoothies : Blend chyawanprash with fruits, yogurt, or nut milk to create a health-boosting smoothie. 6. In Oatmeal : Add a dollop of chyawanprash to warm porridge, oatmeal, or rice pudding. 7. With supplements: Mixing wholefood herbs or botanicals with chyawanprash is a common ayurvedic strategy Indian herbalists administer when targeting specific needs. 8. In Soup: Add a spoonful to warm soups, especially root vegetables or lentil soups, to enhance the flavor or nutrition. 9. Salad Dressings : Whisk a small amount into a vinaigrette. 10. Marinade: Mix a teaspoon of chyawanprash with olive oil or a vinaigrette to create a unique marinade for roasted vegetables or meats. You can order organic chyawanprash from Azure Standard here.
- Pink Popcorn with AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root Powder
A Healthy Snack Even Your Kids Will Love! Finding creative ways to get my kids to eat their veggies has always been a battle. If a food is not the perfect texture or color, I’m lucky if I even get my kids to taste it. This is especially true for snack time. I’ve been on a mission to find healthier snacks that all of my kids can enjoy and we’ve finally found a hit in popcorn with Azurewell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root Powder , which my kids love to call “Pink popcorn”! Popcorn can be a healthy snack as long as it’s not drowned in butter, salt and oil. It’s a whole grain, complex carbohydrate and a good source of fiber. To keep our popcorn wholesome, we opt for organic, non-gmo kernels and prepare it in an air popper. There are other methods to make popcorn but we stay away from prepackaged microwave popcorn due to the potential of added chemicals and excessive amounts of fats and salt. Seasonings are another important factor and while beets may seem like an odd choice, the two actually pair well. AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root Powder has been the perfect way to create a fun, colorful snack that adds nutritional value. Beets are packed with vitamins and minerals like iron and potassium and are a great way to add fiber into the diet. Beets are probably best known for their nitrates. These compounds help with the body’s blood flow. On top of all of these benefits, this beet powder is fermented. Fermentation helps to make the nutrients more bioavailable and digestible while also adding postbiotics. When my kids are eating this snack, I can feel one step closer to accomplishing my mission for a healthier life for my family! Pink Popcorn with AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root Powder Ingredients: 2 tsp AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root Powder 1/4 tsp Salt 2 tsp Powdered sugar (optional) 1/2 cup Popcorn kernels 2 Tbsp Oil (if making popcorn over a stove) 2 Tbsp Butter Instructions: If using powdered sugar, mix together with beet powder and salt, set aside. Prepare popcorn using your preferred method. Pour popcorn into a large bowl and drizzle with melted butter. Mix together. Sprinkle beet powder/salt mixture over popcorn and stir to evenly coat. Taste and add more seasonings as desired. Makes about 4-5 servings. AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Beet Root is very versatile as a natural color with added nutritional value. This recipe is a quick way to boost a kid’s snack. Notes: For best results, add the seasonings to hot popcorn with butter or oil (of your choice) to help it stick better. Start off light on the seasonings and adjust as you go along to suit your taste. You can substitute a low calorie sweetener in place of powdered sugar. A new favorite of mine is allulose . Monk fruit and xylitol are other options that can be used. The sweetener makes it more of a kettle corn and balances some of the earthy beet taste. My kids prefer this version. Your fingers will turn purple from the powder! - Breakfast Oatmeal with AzureWell’s Pure Collagen
A Healthy Dish to Start the Day For several years now, oatmeal has been a consistent go-to for me for breakfast. After abdominal surgery I needed something that was easy to eat, contained soluble fiber, and could help me have consistent and predictable bowel function. I started simple, and as my digestion improved I added more super-foods. Oatmeal by itself has many health benefits partly because of its beta-glucans (a type of soluble fiber found in oats, barley, and mushrooms) which can actually benefit your immune function. From maintaining heart health and appropriate blood sugar levels, to supporting digestion and keeping your bowels functioning properly, oatmeal has helped sustain generations over the centuries. (It’s very important to only eat organic oats because most commercially available non-organic conventionally-grown oats have been sprayed with glyphosate. Glyphosate is often used as a desiccant to dry out the grain before harvest… so that damaging pesticide/herbicide goes right on the ready-to-eat oats.) But, oatmeal is even better when we add spices. Not only do spices contain micronutrients, but with the aromas that waft from the stove while cooking, spices actually help our digestion by enticing our bodies to get the digestive juices going. “Mmmm, that smells good!” I even add AzureWell’s Organic Fermented Turmeric & Ginger Powder to my oatmeal. First, I’m a strong believer in the value of turmeric especially after my health journey. And second, once turmeric is fermented, it loses that super-hot “bite” that is associated with curry seasoning. The Big Win! Adding AzureWell’s Pure Collagen (it's totally flavorless) to my morning oatmeal is my way of getting extra protein (4 grams)... not just any protein, but the collagen that supports healthy hair, skin, and nails. I was eager to recover (inside and out) from the difficulties of my cancer journey. Topping it with Organic Red Walnuts (which don’t have the bitter flavor so common with regular English walnuts) and unheated honey , are my favorite ways to enjoy this flavorful oatmeal. Breakfast Oatmeal with AzureWell’s Collagen Ingredients: 2 cups Water 1/4 tsp. Salt ¼ cup Raisins 1 Tbsp. Goji Berries (dried) 2 Tbsp. AzureWell Pure Collagen ½ tsp. - Introduce your heart to ...
This Nobel Prize Winning, Molecule of the Year Yep, this is no laughing gas. Nitric oxide is so important to our body that in 1992 Science magazine named it “Molecule of the Year.” Later in 1998, it was awarded a Nobel Prize in Medicine for its groundbreaking role as a signaling molecule for the cardiovascular system – and rightfully so! Not to be confused with nitrous oxide (aka the laughing gas that keeps you giggling in the dental chair), nitric oxide is scientifically recognized as an essential messenger molecule promoting optimal cardiovascular health and supporting hundreds of body processes necessary for overall health and function. This powerful ally works by directly targeting the cardiovascular system -- relaxing your blood vessels, allowing them to widen and keep blood flowing freely for maintaining healthy blood pressure. Now, more recent research highlights nitric oxide as one of the cornerstones of vibrant health, supporting everything from oxygen delivery and brain function to gut health and the microbiome. It keeps our mitochondria running efficiently, helps the immune system, mobilizes stem cells, and even supports telomerase activity – which actually helps your cells liver longer! Defy Your Destiny As we get older, our bodies simply don't make the amount of nitric oxide they once did. It's not that we can't use what we do have, we just stop producing the amount we need. Studies demonstrate that by the age of 40, our available nitric oxide levels are about half of what we had in our 20s. And by the time we are 60, it plummets to just 15% -- drastically affecting circulation, healing and energy to every one of the trillion+ cells in our body. I want to emphasize: As we get older, our bodies don't stop using nitric oxide, it just slows down its ability to produce and maintain its availability. Factors like free-radicals, cellular aging, and blood vessel challenges all reduce the ability to make nitric oxide and keep it available at healthy levels in the blood. Yes, doing nothing will allow declining nitric oxide levels to impact your energy, healing, and oxygen levels, but it doesn't have to be the end of your story - you are in control and have the power to change your health destiny. By adding nitrate-rich veggies to your meals, exercising regularly, and avoiding nitric oxide blocking habits (like alcohol or unnatural mouthwash), you can reclaim your vitality and support your heart, immune system, and overall wellness for years to come. Did You Know ... Breathing through your nose doesn’t just help you smell! Dr. Nathan Bryan, one of the foremost authorities in Nitric Oxide research, explains your paranasal sinuses actually produce nitric oxide whey you breathe through your nose. Focusing on nasal breathing allows nitric oxide to reach the lungs and blood, aiding in nitric oxide delivery throughout the body. So, close your mouth and let your nose do all the work. A Deep Dive into Phytocompounds to Optimize Nitric Oxide* To naturally promote healthy nitric oxide levels in the blood, focus on whole foods that supply the necessary phytocompounds (including naturally occurring antioxidants), to support healthy production and bioavailability.* Focusing on foods like beets , arugula, celery and spinach are rich in nitrates but also provide their necessary cofactors (like vitamin c), to maintain optimal antioxidant activity.* While nitrates are a necessary precursor to the nitrate-nitrite-NO pathway to produce nitric oxide, they can oxidize into harmful metabolites (like nitrosamines), if the food is not supported by its naturally occurring antioxidant cofactors like carotenoids and polyphenols.* WARNING: The Following Information Gets A Bit Nerdy! Key nutrients can help keep blood vessels healthy, promoting endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), which aids in nitric oxide availability.* Nattokinase and proteolytic enzymes can help process fibrin proteins to maintain healthy blood flow, arterial integrity and blood pressure regulation.* Pyroloquinoline quinine (PQQ) and CoQ10 bolster cell energy and provide continued antioxidant relief required for healthy nitric oxide production.* Specific vitamins and minerals, like vitamin Bs and magnesium, directly assist nitric oxide function through energy metabolism and eNOS activity.* Fuel Your Vitality Nitric oxide truly is a powerhouse for your health, keeping your cardiovascular system strong, energy levels vibrant, and overall health running at its best. Naturally supporting its production gives you the power to take charge of your health and vitality as you age. The best part, you’re in control! Just by eating nitrate rich foods, adding key nutrients, and making healthy lifestyle choices, you can unlock your nitric oxide potential and set yourself up to thrive for many years to come. - Staying Away From the Use of Risky Injections
Unlock the Secrets to Gut Health in Maintaining Healthy Weight In a desperate attempt to fight a life-long battle of weight struggles, many people have turned to risky injections that belong to a class of incretin mimetics that artificially “mimic” our natural incretin hormones like GLP-1. Initially designed to manage healthy blood sugar levels, western medicine has now broadened the use of these synthetic-engineered hormones as a strategy for weight management by assisting in maintaining blood sugar levels, reducing appetite, and delaying gastric emptying. The idea is supposed to help people feel full longer by mimicking the responsibility of a very important hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). Your body naturally produces this peptide to: • Manage blood sugar levels by increasing insulin when needed • Control appetite so you feel full sooner • Regulate stomach emptying so food stays in your stomach longer, making you feel full Unfortunately, for most, this unnatural strategy comes at high risk and does not address the underlying mechanisms that can naturally support the body in healthy weight management.* This article is not medical advice for a health condition but is meant to empower you with a different strategy for achieving a healthy gut and naturally optimizing the health of those tiny but mighty villi and L-cells that help regulate appetite and maintain healthy weight management. We'll dive into how diet, lifestyle, and herbs like cinnamon, turmeric, and ginger can support these essential processes.* By learning these natural but powerful strategies, you can gain control of your gut health and support your body's natural ability to manage hunger and blood sugar metabolism.* Instead of choosing to join the medical frenzy of risky injections, you can take the offense with a strategy to naturally maintain healthy weight.* The Hidden Role of Your Gut’s Villi and L-Cells in Healthy Weight Management* Your gut is much more than just a tube for digesting food. It is filled with these tiny finger-like projections, called villi, that line your small intestine, reaching out to grab the nutrients from the foods you eat. The health of your villi is directly associated with the health of your gut. In special locations in the lining of your gut, there are also special cells called L-cells that act as a radar, detecting nutrients that are being absorbed and then releasing hormones like GLP-1. GLP-1’s responsibility is to help manage your blood sugar, regulating appetite while supporting the natural process of stomach emptying to help control how quickly you feel hungry again. When your villi and L-cells are compromised, maybe by poor diet or environmental toxins, this can trigger unnecessary stress -- like inflammation or bacterial imbalances disrupting how your body absorbs vital nutrients like sugars and fats. Therefore, when the gut's villi are unhealthy and L-cells are compromised, it often leads to poor blood sugar regulation, heightened appetite, and ultimately, unwanted weight gain, impacting both your vitality and well-being. Probiotic Health and Its Impact on the Health of GLP-1 Activity Your gut is home to trillions of little friends called probiotics that are essential for breaking down food, producing vitamins, and even supporting your immune system.* But did you know they also affect the health of your villi and L-cell function, supporting the regulation of GLP-1 activity?* When your gut’s probiotics are in balance they produce a medium of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) like butyrate, which can promote L-cells to release GLP-1.* However, if your probiotics are disrupted by stressors (such as the overuse of antibiotics or a poor diet high in sugar), it can allow harmful bacteria to thrive and compromise the integrity of the gut lining.* This potentially affects optimal GLP-1 activity and blood sugar control.* Cutting back on sugar, eating more fiber-rich foods and supplementing with probiotics can help restore a healthy probiotic balance by:* • Promoting the production of SCFAs, which, in turn, promote L-cell activity.* • Supporting a healthy inflammatory response and promoting nutrient absorption and natural hormone release.* • Supporting overall gut health, which is essential for a balanced nutrient metabolism.* 5 Healthy Gut Essentials That Support Optimal GLP-1 Activity* 1. Next Step Advanced Probiotic is designed specifically to promote gut health with a carefully selected blend of 18 probiotic strains.* This blend includes the clinically researched DE111® - a Bacillus subtilis probiotic that has been clinically demonstrated to support immunity and weight maintenance.* It may indirectly promote healthy cholesterol, glucose, and triglyceride levels.* And, it might help with normal bowel movements - addressing occasional constipation or diarrhea.* 2. Recover Immune Vitality Complex contains nucleotides (from bovine colostrum) that are the building blocks of nucleic acids. These nucleic acids play a crucial role in supporting intestinal health by promoting the growth and maintenance of the intestinal villi and ensuring the integrity of the gut lining.* Supporting the health of the villi is crucial for their function in the intestinal tract and the function of L-cells.* 3. Blood Sugar Support contains Ceylon cinnamon and its bioactive compounds cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, and other polyphenols. These are metabolized by probiotics in the gut to produce SCFAs such as butyrate and propionate.* In turn, this promotes healthy GLP-1 activity and blood sugar balance.* 4. Fermented Turmeric + Ginger Powder contains turmeric’s active compound curcumin that supports the body's natural healthy inflammatory response.* This helps maintain a healthy gut lining, reducing oxidative stress, and promoting the balance of probiotics in the gut.* This is critical to the healthy production of SCFAs.* Also included in the blend is ginger and its active phytocompound 6-gingerol that interacts with receptors in the gut lining to promote a healthy insulin balance and blood glucose control.* Additionally, ginger has other active bio-compounds, such as gingerol and shogaol, to also support a healthy inflammatory response by supporting a balanced probiotic ecology.* Ginger helps regulate healthy blood sugar levels thus regulating healthy gastric emptying keeping you feeling full for longer periods of time.* 5. Oregon's Wild Harvest Oregon Grape’s active compound is berberine. Berberine has been studied extensively for its crucial role in cellular energy and healthy modulation of blood sugar levels, appetite control, and regulating gastric emptying.* Looking To Make Some Simple Changes That Can Make a Big Difference? - AzureWell Liquid Castile Soap Uses & Dilutions
AzureWell Organic Castile Liquid Soap is incredibly versatile. Use it as a hand soap, body soap, shampoo, or for babies and even pets. It’s also fantastic for applications all over the house—dishes, laundry, solid and fabric surfaces—it does a great job on everything. Use it full-strength for tough grime, or dilute it for gentle cleaning. It may be the only soap you’ll ever need, all in one bottle. Below, you’ll find more ways to use this healthy soap and how to dilute it for different applications. Why is it so important to choose healthy soaps with organic oils and clean ingredients? Check out this other article for all the details. Soap Dilution Ratios Helpful Tip: It’s best to keep the undiluted soap on-hand, then dilute when necessary, because when Liquid Castile Soaps are mixed with water the shelf-life of the oils is reduced. For Body and Baby: Face Cleanser & Make-up Remover: Apply 2 or 3 drops of soap to wet hands, lather, and massage into a dampened face. Rinse. Shower: Apply a small squirt of soap to a wet washcloth, and gently cleanse your whole body. Tub-Bath: 2 Tbsp of undiluted castile liquid soap is generally enough, added to an average-sized bathtub. Our pure soap contains no foaming agents, so it won’t lather like bubble-bath, but rest assured, the cleaning power is still at work! Shampoo: Depending on the length of your hair, use as little as a few drops or up to 2 teaspoons of undiluted soap. Pre-dilute the soap in a cup of water before lathering it into hair. Rinse. Consider applying diluted vinegar to hair afterward as a natural pH balancer, conditioner, and detangler. Do not use castile soap on color-treated hair. Foaming Pump Soap Dispenser: Ratio is 1:3 (Use 1 part soap to 3 parts water. For example, add ½ cup soap to 1-1/2 cups water). Mild Baby Wash: Our Unscented Aloe Mild Castile Liquid Soap is made to be extra gentle for babies. Dilute to a ratio of 1:4 (Use 1 part soap to 4 parts water. For example, add ¼ cup soap to 1 cup water). Keep out of baby’s eyes. Shaving Soap: For face, use 10 drops of undiluted castile soap. Underarms, 3 drops. Legs, half-teaspoon. Wet hands, apply soap, work into a lather, then apply to the area and shave. Rinse. Toothbrush Soap: Use one drop of castile liquid soap on your toothbrush. (Aren’t you glad ALL of our oils are organic?) Oral Appliances: For removable retainers, nightguards, and dentures, wet the appliance. Then, add 1-2 drops of undiluted castile soap to a toothbrush. Clean the device as you would your teeth. Rinse. Foot Bath: Use 2 tsp in a small tub of hot water. Can be used with Epsom salts and baking soda , as desired. Ease Congestion and Breathe: Place 1 Tbsp of Peppermint or Eucalyptus Castile soap in a bowl of steamy hot water and breathe in the vapor/mist. Draping a towel over your head will trap the steam and be more effective. (Also consider AzureWell’s Sinus Support product or a slice of fresh onion placed nearby.) For Kitchen & Appliances Fruit & Vegetable Wash: Add about 1/2 teaspoon of castile liquid soap to a gallon of water in a clean dishpan and rinse fruits and veggies by dunking and swishing. Rinse in clean water. Note: This wash only helps remove dirt and debris. It will not remove pesticides or coatings. Hand Washing Dishes Option 1: Add 1-2 Tbsp of undiluted castile soap to a large sink of water. Because there are no foaming agents added, our soaps do not produce many bubbles, but the dishes will get clean! Rinse thoroughly. Dry with a cloth to avoid water spots. Hand Washing Dishes Option 2: Pre-dilute the castile soap in a ratio of 1:10 (One part soap to 10 parts water. For example, add 3 oz soap to 30 oz water.) Squirt diluted soap onto a scrub brush or cloth and wash each dish without filling the entire sink with water. Rinse thoroughly. Dry with a cloth to avoid water spots. Spray & Wipe: Clean the stovetop, other appliances, cupboard doors, and countertops by first diluting the soap in water to a ratio of 1:16. (One part castile soap to 16 parts water. For example, ¼ cup soap to 4 cups water.) Spray surfaces, scrub as needed, then wipe with a non-soapy damp cloth. Mopping Floors: Wood, laminate, or stone flooring can be cleaned by diluting ½ cup of castile soap into 3 gallons of hot water in a mop bucket. Submerge mop into soapy water, swish, remove, and ring thoroughly. Do not allow excess water to remain on wood or laminate floors. Promptly mop up wet areas. For Laundry & Fabrics Regular Washer: Use ½ cup of castile soap for a large load or ¼ cup for a small load. Add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. For whitening and deodorizing, consider adding ½ cup baking soda to the wash cycle. Note regarding HE washers: Be sure to use half these amounts in HE washers. Hand Washing Delicates: In a dishpan or small tub of water, dilute 1 Tbsp castile soap into 1 gallon of water. Submerge delicates, swish gently, and allow to soak for 10 minutes. Swish again before rinsing with clean water. Press out the water with a dry towel. Do not ring out delicates. Hang or lay flat to dry. For Household Cleaning Mopping Floors: Wood, laminate, or stone flooring can be cleaned by diluting ½ cup of castile soap into 3 gallons of hot water in a mop bucket. Submerge mop into soapy water, swish, remove, and ring thoroughly. Do not allow excess water to remain on wood or laminate floors. Promptly mop up wet areas. Spray & Wipe (same as above for kitchens): Dilute the soap in water to a ratio of 1:16. (One part castile soap to 16 parts water. For example, add ¼ cup to 4 cups of water.) Spray surfaces, scrub as needed, then wipe with a non-soapy damp cloth. All-Purpose Cleaner: To pack a bit more cleaning punch to it, use a stronger 1:10 ratio. (One part castile soap to 10 parts of water. For example, add ¼ cup to 2-1/2 cups water.) Put mixture in a spray bottle and use it for most cleaning jobs. Spray, scrub, wipe with a non-soapy damp cloth. Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Our Tea Tree Castile Liquid Soap is great for toilets, or add more of your own Tea Tree Oil to it if you like. For example, add ½ cup soap to 2 cups water.) Windows: If using a squeegee, add 1 Tbsp soap to a quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray the window pane, and squeegee clean. Follow with a mixture of half vinegar and half water, and squeegee again. Or, if you have newspapers on hand, consider just using diluted vinegar in water (half vinegar, half water), spraying the window, and wiping with the newspaper. Washing windows with paper towels is not recommended as most paper towels contain chemicals that produce streaking. For Pets & Outdoors Dog Shampoo: The amount of castile soap needed to wash a dog depends on its size, hair type, and dirtiness. You’ll need enough soap to create a good lather. Start by wetting the dog thoroughly. Massage the soap into the dog’s fur all the way down to the skin. Rinse the dog thoroughly, then step out of the way while he shakes! Backpacking & Camping: Because our castile liquid soap is concentrated, and has so many uses on the trail, it’s popular with backpackers and campers who want to travel light. This is where “multi-use” really matters! Take just one soap to wash your clothes, dishes, hands, hair, even your teeth. Dilute to suit! - Balancing Health and Passion: A Conversation with John King
In this heartfelt conversation with Susan Booth on The AzureWell Podcast , singer-songwriter John King opens up about his journey through the fast-paced world of country music, the toll it took on his health, and the steps he’s taken to restore balance and wellness. From Northeast Georgia to Nashville, his story is both relatable and inspiring for anyone striving to find harmony between their career, health, and family life. Finding Passion in Music and Discovering Health Imbalance John King’s journey began with a love for songwriting and performing, nurtured in his hometown in Northeast Georgia. After graduating from the University of Georgia with degrees in music and marketing, he packed his bags and headed to Nashville—the epicenter of country music. “I hit the pavement running as soon as I graduated,” John recalls. “Playing every honky-tonk I could, writing hundreds of songs a year, and learning from the amazing talent around me.” But success came at a cost. The grueling schedule of a touring artist—long hours, poor eating habits, and stress—began to take a toll on his physical and mental health. He describes burning the candle at both ends, often ignoring the signs his body was sending him. “I thought this was just normal,” John admits, reflecting on the unhealthy habits he had normalized in pursuit of his dreams. A Wake-Up Call During the Pandemic For John, the pandemic served as an unexpected pause—a rare moment to reflect. “When everything shut down, I was home for the first time in years, getting regular sleep and eating real, home-cooked meals. I felt better than I had in ages,” John shares. The stark contrast made him realize how much he had neglected his health. It wasn’t just about feeling better physically - John found he was more present as a husband and father. This period also brought a health scare that forced him to prioritize wellness and reevaluate his lifestyle. “I realized I needed to make a lifestyle change, not just for myself but for my family,” he says. Steps Toward Wellness Through his journey, John embraced practices that supported his well-being, including: Eating Organic : He began focusing on clean, nutritious foods, often sourced locally or through brands like Azure Standard . “Eating organic just made sense. It wasn’t just healthier—it tasted better, too.” Mindfulness : Learning to meditate was challenging at first, but it became an essential tool for reducing stress and staying centered. Exercise and Rest : He found balance by incorporating moderate exercise and prioritizing sleep—a major shift from his high-intensity, high-stress routine. Family First : John made changes to include his family in his career, such as traveling together in an RV for his Campfire Sessions tour. Inspiring a New Song: "Better Man" John’s wellness journey also inspired his music. His song "Better Man" reflects his commitment to becoming the best version of himself—for his family and for his own well-being. “I used to think providing for my family was about working harder,” John explains. “But I learned that if you’re not taking care of yourself, you can’t truly take care of anyone else.” The song serves as a love letter to his family and a reminder that true strength comes from balance, not burnout. John King sings and plays guitar along a river in Montana for his music video, Better Man. Click picture to listen. Advice for Those Feeling Overwhelmed For anyone stuck in the cycle of overwork and stress, John suggests starting small. “Take baby steps,” he advises. “You don’t have to fix everything at once. Start with five minutes of meditation or switch one thing in your diet to organic. It’s about progress, not perfection.” John emphasizes the importance of identifying what serves you and letting go of what doesn’t, whether that’s habits, relationships, or unnecessary stressors. Making Wellness a Lifestyle Through his journey, John found that wellness isn’t a destination - it’s a daily practice. By slowing down, listening to his body, and making intentional choices, he discovered a new way to approach life and his career. “Health is the best investment you can make,” John says. “It’s not just about living longer - it’s about living better.” John King’s story is a powerful reminder that success doesn’t have to come at the expense of your health. Whether you’re a touring musician, a busy professional, or a parent juggling countless responsibilities, his journey offers hope and practical steps for finding balance in a fast-paced world. - The 4R's of Gut Health
Restoring Balance to a Happy, Healthy Gut Life Begins In The Colon If the body does not eliminate its waste from each meal within 24 hours, then auto-intoxication begins – a fancy term meaning “self-poisoning”. To maintain good health, it is important to digest the foods we eat. We must also make sure we are consistently removing the body’s digestive wastes so they are not absorbed into the blood. As we get older, factors like eating cooked foods, exposure to toxic chemicals and environmental stressors can weaken our digestive strength. A healthy digestive system is the key to achieving optimal health for our entire body. Some say, “Death begins in the colon,” but at AzureWell, we like to say, “Wellness begins in the colon!” The 4-Rs to Restoring Gut Health A widely acknowledged strategy to promote one's digestive health and gut function is "The 4 R's to Restoring Gut Health".* This approach provides a systemic solution to the underlying issues that can weaken digestive health. By using targeted nutrition, this methodology supports the 4 R's: 1) Removal of substances that irritate the gut 2) Replacing the enzymes and acids that diminish due to age or sickness 3) Reinoculation of the beneficial bacteria in the gut 4) Repairing the lining of the intestinal organs themselves.* This serves as a thorough approach to restoring one’s balance to a happy and healthy gut, allowing the body to attain abundantly vibrant health! Remove Bentonite Detoxification Clay (Freshwater) is aimed at the removal of disruptive substances that can irritate the gut lining.* This removal phase aids in the cleansing of the body's natural elimination process, which is essential for maintaining a balanced digestive environment.* Other considerations: AzureWell Pure Chlorella (NS1854) Replace AzureWell Digestive Enzymes, Mid-Meal Every Meal are crucial to the "replace" stage as they provide enzyme support to ensure the breakdown of food and the absorption of nutrients.* Replacing with enzyme support is particularly important as we get older and enzyme production is naturally reduced.* Reinoculate AzureWell Next Step Advanced Probiotic promotes a healthy gut bacteria ecology by reinoculating the gut microbiome with beneficial bacteria.* Replenishing the gut with probiotics helps strengthen digestive function, promoting nutrient uptake and normal immune response of intestinal cells.* Repair AzureWell Icelandic Cod Liver Oil provides essential fatty acids that aid in the structural integrity to help support the repair of the gastrointestinal tract lining.* The EFAs of Cod Liver Oil help promote a healthy inflammatory response which aids the natural healing and maintenance of the digestive system.* Reclaim your digestive health and unlock the secret to a stronger, more resilient you!
- Understanding Ceruloplasmin: The Misunderstood Protein Crucial for Your Health
If you’re health-conscious, especially if you're dealing with issues like fatigue, inflammation, or oxidative stress, understanding Ceruloplasmin could hold the key to improving your wellness. What is Ceruloplasmin and Why Should You Care? Ceruloplasmin is a copper-binding protein that plays a crucial role in your body’s ability to manage oxidative stress, regulate iron and copper levels, and produce energy. Without proper ceruloplasmin function, you might experience fatigue, inflammation, and even accelerated aging. We’ll explore the vital role of ceruloplasmin in your body and how to naturally support it through diet, lifestyle changes, and supplements. This information comes from the interview Susan Booth had with Dr. Alphonzo Monzo, ND, on The AzureWell Podcast . What Exactly is Ceruloplasmin? Ceruloplasmin is a ferroxidase enzyme that’s responsible for binding and transporting copper through the blood. It was first identified in 1948, and since then, research has revealed its essential role in managing iron metabolism and oxidative stress. Key Functions of Ceruloplasmin: Enzyme: It facilitates the oxidation of iron, turning it into a form that can be used by your body for crucial processes like red blood cell production. Copper Carrier: Ceruloplasmin binds to 95% of the copper in your blood, making it bioavailable to tissues that need it for antioxidant defense and energy production. Antioxidant: As an antioxidant, ceruloplasmin supports the body's natural defense against oxidative stress by removing extra oxygen and free radicals that may contribute to cellular damage, inflammation, and aging. In short, ceruloplasmin is a multi-functional protein that keeps your copper and iron levels balanced while protecting your cells from oxidative damage. As explained by Dr. Alphonzo Monzo on The AzureWell Podcast, ceruloplasmin plays a crucial role in managing oxidative stress, regulating iron and copper levels, and producing energy. Click to see this slide in the video. The Importance of Ceruloplasmin for Your Health While ceruloplasmin’s primary role is copper transport, its effects extend to supporting a proper inflammatory response, maintaining healthy energy levels, and combating oxidative stress. Dr. Monzo explains that many chronic health conditions - especially those affecting women - can be traced back to inadequate ceruloplasmin and it's reduced function. Health Impacts of Low Ceruloplasmin Levels: Inflammation: Low levels of ceruloplasmin allow unbound iron to accumulate in your tissues, creating oxidative stress that leads to inflammation. Over time, this can contribute to joint discomfort, fatigue, and more serious complications of continued inflammation. Oxidative Stress: When your body struggles to manage free radicals effectively, oxidative stress can impact the health of your cells, contributing to premature aging and increasing your risk for serious health issues (yes, even the big ones). Mitochondrial Dysfunction: Ceruloplasmin is essential for maintaining healthy mitochondria—the “powerhouses” of your cells. If your mitochondria aren’t functioning optimally, it can lead to reduced energy levels and impact overall cellular health. Women, in particular, may require additional support to promote healthy ceruloplasmin levels and activity due to natural factors like hormonal changes, menstruation, and the body’s increased need to support copper balance during pregnancy. Dr. Monzo explains that ceruloplasmin acts as a protein, enzyme, and antioxidant all in one, balancing iron and copper in the body. Click to see this slide in the video. How to Support Ceruloplasmin Naturally: Key Nutrients Fortunately, there are ways to promote healthy ceruloplasmin naturally, and it all starts with the right nutrients. According to Dr. Monzo, these nutrients are essential for activating and maintaining ceruloplasmin: Retinol (True Vitamin A): Found in beef liver and cod liver oil , retinol is vital for healthy ceruloplasmin and ensuring copper can be properly transported and utilized by your body. Copper: Without copper, your body can’t produce ceruloplasmin. Foods like organ meats and nuts are rich in copper and should be a staple in your diet. Magnesium: Magnesium is crucial for enzyme activation, including those responsible for ceruloplasmin production. Foods like dark leafy greens , nuts , and seeds are excellent sources. Liver Health: A healthy liver is crucial for ceruloplasmin production because the liver is responsible for making and releasing ceruloplasmin into the bloodstream. Sunlight: Exposure to sunlight helps activate retinol in the body, indirectly assisting ceruloplasmin production. Spending time outdoors without sunglasses can support this process. Whole Food Vitamin C: Unlike synthetic vitamin C (ascorbic acid in isolation), whole food vitamin C contains natural cofactors that help ceruloplasmin function. Foods like citrus, berries , and leafy greens are great sources. Sodium & Calcium: Although these are not often highlighted, maintaining proper sodium and calcium levels is suggested to play a role in supporting ceruloplasmin’s ability to regulate copper and iron in the body. Dr. Monzo cautions against synthetic vitamins, which can reduce your body’s ceruloplasmin levels and hinder copper metabolism. Click to see this slide in the video. Factors that Deplete Ceruloplasmin Levels On the flip side, several modern lifestyle factors and synthetic substances can deplete ceruloplasmin levels. Dr. Monzo emphasizes that avoiding these factors is just as important as boosting your nutrient intake. Top Ceruloplasmin Depleters: Synthetic Vitamin D: Over-supplementation with synthetic Vitamin D can deplete retinol (Vitamin A) stores, which are necessary for ceruloplasmin activity. It’s better to get Vitamin D from natural sunlight. Inorganic Zinc: While zinc is essential for immune function, excess amounts, especially in synthetic forms, can be an antagonist to copper and reduce ceruloplasmin production. Magnesium Deficiency: Magnesium is necessary for activating enzymes involved in ceruloplasmin synthesis. Supporting healthy magnesium levels promotes the body's ability to produce ceruloplasmin and maintain proper copper balance. Sluggish Liver: Since ceruloplasmin is produced in the liver, supporting healthy liver function is important for maintaining optimal ceruloplasmin levels. Blue Light Exposure: Excessive blue light from screens can disrupt circadian rhythms and impair overall health, including ceruloplasmin activity. Synthetic Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid in isolation): Unlike whole-food vitamin C, synthetic vitamin C can actually interfere with ceruloplasmin’s ability to bind copper, potentially causing a copper imbalance. Stress: Chronic stress increases cortisol levels, which can compromise ceruloplasmin production and copper metabolism. Environmental Toxins: Exposure to fluoride, chlorine, and glyphosate found in everyday water supplies and foods can disrupt ceruloplasmin and copper activity. High Iron in Liver & Tissue: Excessive iron, especially unbound iron, can lead to oxidative stress, damaging cells and tissues. This impairs ceruloplasmin’s ability to manage iron levels. Antibiotics, Artificial Hormones (Birth Control, HRT): Long-term use of antibiotics and synthetic hormones can disrupt liver function, impacting the production of ceruloplasmin. New Discoveries: Ceruloplasmin Receptors and Immune Function Recent research has uncovered ceruloplasmin receptors on human cells, including blood monocytes, granulocytes, and lymphocytes. These receptors suggest that ceruloplasmin plays a larger role in immune regulation than previously thought. This discovery adds new dimensions to how ceruloplasmin supports overall health, particularly in the management of inflammation and oxidative stress. New evidence highlights how ceruloplasmin helps regulate immune responses, further emphasizing its importance. Click to see this slide in the video. The Dangers of Unbound Iron: Why Ceruloplasmin is Critical One of ceruloplasmin’s most important roles is managing iron levels in the body. When ceruloplasmin is low, unbound iron can accumulate, reacting with oxygen to form harmful free radicals. These free radicals cause oxidative stress, damaging cells and contributing to inflammation and premature aging. Effects of Unbound Iron: Cellular Damage: Without ceruloplasmin, iron remains unbound and creates oxidative stress, leading to cellular damage. Inflammation: Unregulated iron levels can impact your body's natural inflammatory responses, potentially affecting your energy levels and the health of your heart and joints. How Azurewell Supplements Support Ceruloplasmin Function Azurewell offers a range of supplements that can naturally support ceruloplasmin levels, helping balance copper and iron in the body and reduce oxidative stress. Unlock The Secrets to Glowing Hair, Radiant Skin, and Strong Nails We all face our own unique health hurdles. For some it’s the thinning or loss of hair, for others it’s brittle, fragile nails. For me, it was several decades ago that I developed a fungal infection in my blood. Though it was able to be treated, it led to an ongoing health journey resulting in recurring eczema that included persistent irritation, inflammation and discomfort. I would love to suggest this blog is about a quick fix. But the truth is, it has taken years of patience, discomfort, and perseverance to discover my own successes. The turning point, in which I began to see the most meaningful results, only started when I began to address the overall well-being of my internal health systems. I can say with confidence, healing is possible. It was when I took the burden off my digestive systems and targeted my liver and kidney function with clinical nutrition, I noticed real improvements not just with my skin but with my overall well-being. Like many of us, my health journey continues, but I’m excited to share what I’ve learned thus far because I truly believe these strategies can help you, just as they’ve helped me. Beauty Is From Within Throughout the world it is clinically recognized that the vitality of your hair, skin and nails is not just a cosmetic concern but a direct reflection of your blood’s condition and the systems responsible for cleansing it – your liver, kidneys and intestines (“ Now That You're Prepared ... It's Time for a Spring Cleansing .") When these systems are overburdened (whether due to poor diet, stress, or environmental toxins), it can manifest in issues such as hair loss, brittle nails, and dry or irritated skin. Nourishing your body with the right nutrients, maintaining healthy digestion and detoxification, and supporting the function of these organ- gland systems is essential for promoting long-term hair, skin and nail health. Beauty Starts with Collagen: The Essential Nutrient for Youthful Skin, Strong Nails and Healthy Hair* Collagen makes up about one-third of all the proteins in the body, providing structural support, strength and resiliency for hair, skin and nails.* But as we age, we lose about 1.5% of the ability to replenish collagen each year. Not only does the loss of collagen possibly cause wrinkles in the skin, brittle nails and dry hair but it can also slow the necessary healing and repair of these areas when in need.* Furthermore, collagen is vital to the health of cartilage.* And age-related depletion of collagen affects joint function causing stiffness and movement limitations.* Supplementing with collagen delivers the necessary foundational support and provides the essential building blocks for hair, skin and nail health.* AzureWell Collagen, Pure (Deep Water Marine) is highly absorbable hydrolyzed collagen peptides that provide the building blocks of collagen directly targeting hair, skin and nail health.* Collagen provides essential amino acids critical to hair health, protecting hair follicles from free radical damage and supporting the dermis to maintain hair strength and prevent age-related thinning.* In the skin, collagen has been demonstrated to improve age-related skin changes, increasing skin hydration and elasticity while reducing fine lines, wrinkles and dryness.* For the nails, science has demonstrated that 2.5 grams of collagen peptides resulted in a significant decrease in nail breakage, improved nail appearance and increased nail growth.* Nourishing Hair Vitality The body’s cellular energy plays a crucial role in maintaining strong, vibrant hair. When cellular energy is depleted, it can lead to thinning, premature graying, or even hair loss. To boost your body's cellular energy and mitochondrial function it's helpful to first focus on healthy ceruloplasmin activity. (We covered the importance to ceruloplasmin in a r ecent blog post and in Episode #1 of AzureWell's new podcast.) With proper energy from healthy ceruloplasmin activity, the body can maintain the correct balance (and location) of important minerals like zinc, copper, and iron.
