Freeing The Invisible Weight

A Gentle Path To Restoring Hormone Radiance, Naturally

H.R. and Kelly Payne beekeeping in Texas, 2025.

I want to share with you a personal story, not from the podium of a health professional, but as a husband, watching the woman I love battle something invisible but deeply real - postpartum hormone imbalance.

Kelly was 37 at the time and a true force of nature who had recovered naturally, beautifully, after our 3rd child was born. Yes, she was tired, sure - we both were! But she was radiant, grounded, capable, loving. She nursed, she nested, she showed up fully for all of us every day and every night. But as the months turned into years, quietly, slowly, something started to shift.

At first, it was subtle. Her day-to-day vitality didn’t seem to bounce back the way it used to. Her emotions felt a little more volatile. And even though our little guy was sleeping through the night, her sleep became fragmented and restless. Little by little, new symptoms became impossible to ignore. Her joints ached, and her cycles were no longer just inconvenient, they were overwhelming.  And then her once-lush hair, began to fill the brush more and more with each passing week.

Through all of this, on the outside, she was still that same, strong, loving, incredible woman. But, on the inside, an invisible imbalance was clinging onto her joy like a backpack full of bricks that no one else could see. Honestly, I didn’t even see it happening. There was no abrupt moment of collapse, just a slow unraveling that crept in so subtly we both almost missed it.

We decided not to go the conventional route of lab work or quick pharmaceutical fixes. Not because we are anti-medicine but in discernment, trusting a different kind of healing was needed for her. We both knew her body wasn’t broken, it was just a little out of rhythm. And rather than overriding her with chemical signals, we knew we could honor its wisdom and naturally restore its innate intelligence back into harmony.

So we leaned to the sacred tools that have always guided us – prayer, nourishing foods, daily movement, intentional rest, and the quiet healing of nature’s apothecary. This wasn’t a crisis, it was an invitation to heal, and we finally started to listen.

Healing Begins With Nature’s Prescription

Balancing the body doesn't always come from a remedy found in a capsule. Sometimes healing begins by the earth we stand on, or quiet intentional breathing, or through the warmth of our sun. We all know the hormone system, often referred to as the neuroendocrine system, is deeply connected to the nervous system. So Kelly and I became intentional, every sunny morning that we were gifted with, grounding our bodies to the earth while focusing deeply on slow breathing exercises. These simple practices - grounding, deep breathing, and sunlight - are nature's prescription to nurture your inner calm to balance your stress response, allowing you to restore your equilibrium naturally.

Sleep Is Not A Luxury

Sleep became sacred, and we protected her with this rest, fiercely. We cut out screens in the evening, dimmed the lights and diffused calming oils. We supplemented with Melatonin and Racing Mind Relief to nourish the body’s calm.* According to UC Berkley, getting 8 hours of sleep can affect emotional stress levels and provide a restorative power that affects memory, immune function, mood and emotions. Neuroscientist Mathew Walker claims deep sleep as a natural anxiety inhibitor, so as long as we get it each and every night.

Feeding the System That Feeds You

We cut back on sugar, added more healthy fats, proteins, and minerally rich alkalizing foods to support the raw materials her body needed to support hormonal balance. Alkalizing your diet with a broad array of mineral rich foods is the perfect way to deliver a solid foundation of critical vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential fatty acids (EFAs) necessary to maintain a balanced neuroendocrine system. Free radicals can be devastating to our systems, generating an excitotoxic response adversely affecting healthy mood, relaxation and hormone balance. Adequate minerals (especially magnesium), antioxidants and EFAs are baseline requirements to support our neuroendocrine system.*

Supporting Hormones With Grace

Kelly’s hormone imbalance didn't come on like a storm. It crept in quietly, almost easy to miss, leaving subtle changes making her feel out of sync. One of the most positive impactful shifts came when we gently supported her estrogen metabolism, without overriding or forcing anything, but allowing her body to process hormones the way it was designed to.*

We turned to AzureWell’s Men’s & Women’s Estrogen Balance to give her body the nudge it needed to process estrogen into its more beneficial forms.* The Woman's Feminine Balance complemented it beautifully and became a steady, soothing presence, grounding her emotional calm and bringing balance back to her cycle.* We had to be patient with it as it didn’t force her body to react now. But with time, I watched her reclaim her joy, her rhythms, her vibrant inner glow.

When Exhaustion Speaks Louder Than Words

By the time we realized how this stress had worn her body down, her adrenals were crying out for help. Her stress response left her exhausted, anxious, and easily overwhelmed. We started by replenishing her adrenals with essential nutrients found in Adrenal Food.* Then later started supporting her system with AdrenaNew Adaptogen, full of balancing herbs to help steady cortisol swings.* These tools, alongside of Trace-Replace Minerals, helped her body regulate stress more gracefully, restoring her energy during the day while allowing her to find her calm during the night.* It wasn’t about masking symptoms, we were building a foundation of lasting resilience at the core.

As protective hormones like DHEA, progesterone, and pregnenolone begin to decline in our 30s and beyond, science suggests that maintaining hormonal balance in these areas, particularly an ideal cortisol-to-DHEA ratio, can have profound implications for both our health and vitality.* Supporting her cortisol-to-DHEA ratio was a key strategy that I felt was necessary to implement.* By understanding this, we gave her body the tools to adapt, recover, and truly thrive again.*

Trusting The Wisdom Within

And here’s the truth, Kelly’s success didn’t unfold in a perfect line. It came in waves, rising and falling like a tide. Some days were harder than others, and some weeks were slower than we hoped. But as the months became seasons, we saw change - slowly, softly, her overall trend was upward. Her cycles found rhythm and her face softened with peace.

As her partner, if there is one thing I've learned walking beside her with all of this, is that hormone imbalance isn’t always loud or obvious. Most of the time it drifts quietly, only whispering bouts of fatigue, or just acting as that silent sense of just not feeling quite right. But those gentle whispers are valid and worth listening to.

Sometimes true healing means choosing to nourish rather than trying to over-ride and fix everything. When we choose to listen with patience and compassion instead of control, we allow space to invite the body back into its natural rhythm of healing. Sometimes the most profound healing begins with honoring what’s real, creating stillness, and aligning with the sacred intelligence already woven within the body’s design.

Can you use this if you no longer have a menstrual cycle, just to keep hormones balanced?

What a wonderful story and testimony! Thanks for sharing it. I'm going through this same season. I see that you sought through "prayer, nourishing foods, daily movement, intentional rest, and the quiet healing of nature’s apothecary" the answers for your healing, but if I may ask, how/when did you find the "this is it!" supplements that were essential to you? Thanks again.
